Remember her from last week? There’s more on her

  • Just last week, Zoe “Zoella” Sugg was the name on everybody’s lips. Her debut novel, Girl Online, was the fastest selling hardback of 2014. A week later, she’s still on everybody’s lips, but for much less positive news. Both she and her publisher, Penguin, revealed that her book was ghostwritten for her by children’s author Siobhan Curham, and did it get her fans mad. It got so bad that Zoella had to take a break from the internet (!!!!), and The Guardian had to devote three articles to the whole controversy. (Source 1) (Source 2) (Source 3)
  • And since we’re in England anyway, check it out: J.K. Rowling’s Cormoran Stirke novels are going to be a BBC series! (Source)

  • HarperCollins imprint Thomas Nelson just told one of their authors that they’d only publish her book about Christianity and the LGBT community under the following conditions: If “‘homosexual behavior’ in the book would have to be ‘presented as a sin’…and that her daughter would need to be depicted as ‘remorseful’ and ‘taking steps to change their lifestyle.'” Like Jujubee says up top, Thomas Nelson can go choke on a dick. Good news is it looks like HarperCollins has done right by the author and offered to continue the publication process with a different imprint. (Source 1) (Source 2)
  • If you haven’t already seen it, head on over to Entertainment Weekly to see Stephen Colbert dress up as Bilbo, Gandalf, and Legolas. Not all at the same time, of course. That’d be crazy! (Source)
  • The Fault In Our Stars topped Google Play’s most downloaded list for books. Joining it on the list are DivergentInsurgent12 Years A Slave, and Fifty Shades of Grey. (Source)
  • Finally, check out 2014’s best book covers, according to the New York Times. (Source)
